Minority Focus is committed to promoting quality education and equal learning opportunities for all children. The organization provides educational materials—such as textbooks, stationery, school bags, and other essential learning resources—to children studying in government schools, helping them continue their education without financial burden.

Core Activities
1. Regular guidance in learning of the student after they return to home.
2. Managing educational materials.
3. Monthly meeting with the volunteers taking responsibilities to run the initiative
4. Monthly parents meeting.

In addition, Minority Focus supports after-school coaching centers in underprivileged communities across southern Lalitpur, Nepal. These centers offer academic support to children who struggle with their studies, ensuring they receive proper guidance, homework help, and encouragement to improve their learning outcomes. Through these initiatives, students not only strengthen their academic foundation but also gain confidence and motivation to pursue higher education. By addressing both material and academic needs, Minority Focus plays a vital role in creating a more inclusive and equitable education environment where every child—regardless of background—has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.

Visit to Coaching Center

Bhattedanda is a village situated in southern part of Lalitpur district and former Village Development Committee that is now part of Bagmati Rural Municipality in Province No. 3 of central Nepal. The distance from Kathmandu to Bhattedanda is 35 km (1and half hour).

On 2nd October 2020, along with Rajin Maharjan, Program Executive at Console Mission (partner organization to Minority Focus), I (Jasti Maharjan) as a representative from Minority Focus visited Nayagaun-03, Bhattedanda where, school students from this very area are getting financial support for their coaching classes. The place is a way remote area, students have to walk a long distance ( 1- 1and half hour) to reach their education institute from there shelter.

Susmita Lopchen, Sumitra Lopchen, Suntali Theengh, Yubraj Theengh, in grade 9 from Shree Mahakali Devi Secondary School, Bhattedanda is handling coaching classes in Nayagaun-03. Around 21 students from different schools and different grades are getting tuition classes in regular basis. Tuition teachers have allocated the students with different grades according to their preferable potential to run the classes. One teacher handles 5-6 students from different grades at a time in a 1 hour of time period.

It is a real good initiation to start tuition classes for school students in such remote area where general facilities such as water, education, health are not in proper access to the localities. Volunteers are actively performing their responsibilities even though they have certain challenges on their way. We had short discussion session in the coaching class room regarding their experiences, challenges and how are they tackling with it. Some of the alternatives and suggestions also came up during for the betterment of the coaching classes.
